 A report on the course of disorders of the temporomandibular joint in the faculty of dentistry at the Syrian Private University.

The faculty of dentistry at the Syrian Private University organized a free advanced course on the disorders of the temporomandibular joint, an important subject and little interest by most dentists.
The theoretical side:

Lectures day on 3/12/2016 at the Institute of the Martyr Bassel Al-Assad Institute where lecturers lectured on the disorders of the temporomandibular joint of different specialties in dentistry:
- Prof. Dr. Essam Jamous, a specialist in fixed dental compensation, lecturer at the Syrian Private University and a member of the teaching staff at Damascus university.

- Prof. Dr.  Samer Akkad, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Faculty Member, the Syrian Private University.
- Prof. Dr. Bassil Sheha, Specialist of Fixed Compensation, member of the teaching staff at the University of Kalamoun.
- Dr. Jihad Baroudi, Orthodontist.

The theoretical meeting was attended by 138 participants, including 111 students from our faculty and from Damascus university, and 27 dentists from outside the university. A summary of the lectures was distributed, which included the most important theoretical information as well as an approved clinical examination form prepared by the lecturers themselves during the preparation sessions within this course. In order to increase the interaction of the participants, a competition was held at the end of the lectures, included 11 multiple-choice questions from the information presented in the lectures. The winners of the first three places received valuable prizes.

Practical Training:
The course also included practical training on 5 and 8/12/2016 within the faculty clinics. 74 students participated in it out of the total number who attended the theoretical course, 64 of them were our students and 10 were from outside the university. In the first day, the interest was in the diagnosis of disorders of the temporomandibular joint, and on the second day, the necessary treatments were conducted.
The course was organized in cooperation with Zahra Dent, which ensured the full requirements of the course, including valuable gifts to the lecturers and valuable prizes for the students. This company has been thanked by the university for its hospitality, and the National Union f Syrian Students through the administrative body contributed effectively and positively to organize this important course. Prof. Dr. Talal Al Nahlawi, vice-dean for Scientific Affairs followed up this course.
