(Million Basma) Campaign at the Syrian Private University

Within the framework of its social responsibility and its role in community service, the Syrian Private University in cooperation with the branch of the National Union of Syrian Students organized on Sunday 1-12-2019 an event within the framework of the (Million Basma) campaign launched by Basma Association to support children with cancer. In which participated the President of the University Prof. Nazir Ibrahim, the Vice-President of the University  Prof. Mohamed Riyad Al-Ghazi, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Nizar Al-Daher, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy Prof. Adel Nofal, and a group of members of the educational and administrative staff, and colleague Waseem Gherz Al-Din Head of the National Union Branch for Syrian Students, colleagues in the National Union Branch for Syrian Students, and a large group of university students.

 

The President of the University initiated the event with a speech explaining the vital and important role of the university in serving the community and its keenness to integrate its students with the issues of their society, introducing them to their responsibilities, their role in serving their community and their country, and the positive impact of this role in the reconstruction of our beloved country. He also affirmed the university’s great keenness to spread the culture of volunteering, charitable and humanitarian work in cooperation with civil society associations, and thanked the Basma Association represented by its director Rima Salem and its work team for their valuable efforts in supporting and helping children with cancer and securing everything they need to recover from this disease.

After that, Basma Association gave an introductory presentation about children cancer, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection for the recovery of the affected child, in addition to an introductory presentation about Basma Association, its health centers, and the most important achievements it achieved during its working years.

This was followed by fundraising for the campaign through the association's funds distributed at university facilities. The campaign witnessed great interaction and participation represented by the contributions of professors, members of the educational and administrative staff, and university students, in addition to the university presidency that provided a sum of money to support the campaign.

The University administration would like to thank everyone who contributed to the donation campaign from members of the educational staff, employees and students for their great participation and interaction, as well as colleagues in the branch of the National Union of Syrian Students for their outstanding cooperation in the success of the donation campaign.  And special thanks go to Basma Association for its distinguished efforts, and  the University administration wishes them all the best and success in this humanitarian and noble work, and wishes a speedy recovery for all the affected children.
