President of SPU, Prof. Nazir Ibrahim, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Director General of the Damascus Hospital to formalize scientific and academic cooperation between the two entities. Attending the signing ceremony, held in the president's office on Wednesday 25/10/2017, were the university's Vice President, the Dean  and Vice-Deans of the Faculty of Medicine, and some faculty members.

The agreement stipulates that SPU's medical students will do their clinical training in the various departments, divisions, and specialized training halls of the Damascus Hospital. Facilities will be made available and arrangements made to provide the students with quality training and the needed practical experience. A general supervisor will be appointed to oversee the implementation of the MOU.

The duration of the agreement is one clinical training year renewable upon mutual agreement of the two parties.  This MOU comes as a part of a series of agreements aimed at developing the clinical training for SPU's medical students. Such agreements are meant not only to maintain, but also to enhance the stature of the university's medical school as a leading institution in Syrian higher education
