Vision & Objectives

With the growing role of private educational institutions in supplying society with the professional competencies it requires—and the increasing demand for such institutions both locally and regionally—and following a six-year journey that culminated in the graduation of the first cohort from the Faculty of Medicine at the Syrian Private University, a critical review of the educational environment within the Faculty became imperative. This review encompassed all pillars of the academic setting, including infrastructure, curriculum, and its two main stakeholders: faculty members and students.

The Faculty of Medicine has actively worked to enhance its educational laboratories and expand professional and clinical training opportunities for students, particularly in relation to the newly established teaching hospital. The Faculty has recruited top-tier instructors and academic staff, ensuring a balanced ratio between faculty members and students—an essential prerequisite for effective teaching and learning, as it maximizes opportunities for meaningful interaction between instructors and learners.

Following an assessment of the strengths and shortcomings of the previous curriculum, and in alignment with the broader shift toward the credit-hour system, the Faculty recognized the need to develop a new academic plan that supports its goals, mission, and vision.

Vision:

The Faculty of Medicine attracts Arabic-speaking students aspiring to study medicine, owing to the strong reputation of its graduates as providers of medical services, contributors to their communities, and supporters of scientific research.

Mission:

The Faculty of Medicine strives to provide an optimal environment for delivering distinguished and comprehensive medical education. This education aims to prepare graduates for high-level professional and ethical performance, grounded in teamwork and collaborative practice. The ultimate goal is to ensure safe medical practice that guarantees essential patient care and improves quality of life.

Graduates are expected to possess a deep understanding of the health conditions in their communities and contribute to solving public health challenges. They should also demonstrate the ability to pursue specialization, engage in self-directed learning, and commit to professional development, thereby continuously enhancing their skills and competencies.

The Faculty further seeks to promote evidence-based medicine and guided scientific research among students, supporting those passionate about these fields in ways that benefit society and improve healthcare and quality of life.

Objectives:

1.To supply society with physicians equipped with the expertise necessary for high-level professional and ethical performance, ensuring safe essential patient care and improved quality of life, while contributing to the understanding and resolution of public health issues.

2.To adopt and develop modern teaching and learning methodologies that enable graduates to pursue specialization, engage in lifelong learning, and enhance their cognitive and professional skills through evidence-based medicine.

3.To establish the conditions and tools for modern education and training, provide access to knowledge resources, and foster self-learning and other personal capabilities that support scientific thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
