Pharmacy internship and training system

 

Pharmacy internship and training program:
1 - The student follows training in one of the pharmacies during summer holidays under the supervision of the deanship of the faculty of pharmacy, on three periods:
- The first period for 200 hours after student’s  completion of the 60 credit hours.
     - The second period for 200 hours after student’s completion of the 90 credit hours.
     - The third period for 200 hours after student’s completion of the 120 credit hours.

During the period of training, the student may attend at pharmaceutical factories and laboratories for 50 hours after the approval of the deanship of the faculty.
  These hours are readed and their fees (as one credit hour per period) should be paid before the beginning of the training period.

2 - Students' internship is monitored by one of the faculty of pharmacy’s teaching staff, charged by the dean of the faculty (Student Training Office). A student, proved absent more than three times without a legitimate excuse accepted by the dean of the faculty during the periods mentioned in paragraph 1), must attend an additional period equal to the entire period in which he was absent.

3. A student must acquire the special internship book, which is certified by the deanship of the faculty, and obtain a written approval from the pharmacist supervising his / her internship, which shows the beginning and the end of his / her internship in each of the periods mentioned in paragraph (1)

4 - The student should write in the internship book all recipes he prepared himself in the pharmacy according to serial numbers,  mention how to prepare and write in the notebook notes on the classification quantities and pharmaceutical forms of ready medicines.

5 –Coordination should be established between the deanship of the faculty, the Pharmacists Syndicate and pharmacies to conducting students’ internship.

6 - The internship course is considered one of the compulsory faculty courses (level 4 and 8) and the deanship of the faculty charges an appropriate lecturer to give guidance lectures from the second academic year

(The fourth level - the eighth level) according to a program developed by the deanship of the faculty. Passing this course is  a prerequisite for obtaining a license in pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry. Examination regulations of other courses do not apply to internship.  It is subjected to the but the following regulations:

(1) - The internship exam is conducted in two stages:

The first stage: a written examination in the courses: Pharmaceutical Chemistry - pharmaceutical – Drugs. Its  grade is (50) fifty grade out of one hundred (100).
This stage is done starting from the ninth level during practical exams.

The second stage:  an oral examination to test student's knowledge in the pharmaceutical effect, daily quantities, pharmaceutical forms, pharmacological prescriptions and all works related to student's internship at the pharmacy. Its grade is (50) fifty grade out of one hundred (100). This is 

done starting from the beginning of the ninth level after theoretical examinations.

2) The two stages internship  exam is carried out by a committee formed by the dean of the faculty, of the faculty’s teaching staff provided that its members should not be less than three.
(3) If a student fails the second stage exam, he/she retains the first stage grades.
