The College of Petroleum Engineering, in cooperation with the branch of the National Union of Syrian Students, held a reception and a welcome ceremony for the new students of the academic year 2020/2019, on Tuesday 3/12/2019 in the presence of the Vice President of the University, Prof.  Muhammad Riyad Al-Ghazzi, representing the President of the University, and the Dean of the College of Petroleum Engineering, Prof. Edmond Salloum, the members of the educational and administrative staff of the college, colleagues in the branch of the National Union of Syrian Students, and a large group of new students at the college.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence on the lives of our righteous martyrs and the national anthem of the Syrian Arab Republic. Then, colleague Ali Ibrahim, head of the administrative board, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the new students and introduced the National Union of Syrian Students and its most important activities. After that, the Dean of the College of Petroleum Engineering delivered a speech in which he spoke about the study plan and certificates that qualify students for registration in the college, introducing the teaching and administrative staff, and clarifying the vision and future goals of the college. At the end of his speech, he called on the Vice President of the University, Prof. Muhammad Riyad Al-Ghazi to deliver his speech, who in turn expressed the university's welcome to a new group of students and its joining this specialization, which is being taught only at the Syrian Private University, and he talked about academic guidance in the college and its important role in guiding students, in addition to external dispatch and international agreements signed by the college with prestigious foreign universities.

After that, the student Maher Alaya presented some poetry, followed by some explanations by the Director of Admission and Registration Prof. Ayman Hassan about the credit hour system and course registration systems, referring to the academic warning system adopted at the university. The ceremony concluded with some art presented by the student Al-Hussein Al-Rawi.
