College of Medicine holds scientific event on World Liver Day

The Faculty of Medicine at the Syrian Private University held a scientific event on the International Day of Liver, 28/7/2015. The event included a scientific symposium on inflammation and liver cancer and also a vaccine campaign for college students against hepatitis B.

The event was attended by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sheikh Issa, the Director of Damascus Hospital, Dr. Adib Mahmoud, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Nizar Ibrahim, Dr. Riyad Al-Ghazi, Assistant President and a group of professors and students.

The President expressed his thanks to the Faculty of Medicine for the establishment of this event, stressing the University's support for all educational activities and events that contribute to the awareness of the community and the dissemination of preventive methods which are better than the treatment. He also spoke about the importance of the role of the Faculty of Medicine at the University, Have an important role in the interest of scientific research and also the dissemination of health awareness in the community.

Dr. Nazir Ibrahim gave a detailed explanation of the importance of this event and gave a lecture on liver cancer.

It is worth mentioning the scientific research on hepatitis B and C initiated by students from the Faculty of Medicine and they made a presentation on this important scientific research.

In the coming days, an awareness campaign will be organized by students of the Faculty of Medicine, where they will meet people on the streets of Damascus and provide them with tips and information that will guide them to ways of preventing liver infections
