Indications Of Hysterectomy According To Age Categories At Altawlid Hospital

ABSTRACT:
Introduction: Hysterectomy is one of the most common non-pregnancy surgeries. This procedure involves to remove the uterus, the cervix and in some cases the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. The aim of this study was to know the most common indication in patients by each age category. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study at altawlid hospital in Damascus included 2304 cases from 2013 to 2017, including cases of hysterectomy.

Results: We found that the most common cause of hysterectomy is Placenta previa in the age group (18-35 y), and was adenomyosis in the age group (36-48 y) and was abnormal uterine bleeding in the age group (49-65 y).
 
Conclusion: The most common indication for hysterectomy are: abnormal uterine bleeding, adenomyosis, and placenta previa
