Abstract

Efficiency of dried leaves’s essential oil English lavender lavandula angustifolia L. against (12-14 day) old larvae of Tribolium castaneum was examined as fumigant under laboratory conditions, Five concentration of essential oil was Tested (5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 µl/litter air), individuals’ death was recorded at (24, 72,120,168 and 216) hours, then mortality values were corrected according to control’s mortality values. Results showed that the more the concentration increased the more the mortality raised, also progress of exposure time correlated positively with the increased values of mortality%, but the biggest dead larvae number were took place during (72-120) hour period, all treatments didn’t achieve the total mortality 100 % (30/30), where The highest mortality value was after 168 hour 60.37 % by (50 µl/litter air) followed by 57.04 % by (100 µl/litter air) without significant difference , findings lead to the possible useful introduce of Essential oil of lavandula angustifolia L. in Bio-control of notorious stored product pest Tribolium castaneum.
