Rules for registration in the summer semester for the academic year 2019-2020 and tuition fees payment

 

The procedures, that concern the termination of the second semester and the registration for the summer semester for the academic year 2019-2020, are set as follows:

 

First: Second Semester 2019-2020:

 

-          Deadline for announcing exam results is on Tuesday the 18th  of August, 2020.

 

-          Deadline for submitting final exam appeal applications is on Saturday 22nd  of August, 2020. Processing these applications is done as quickly as possible to ensure the correct calculation of the average.

 

-          Results  of examination appeals are announced on Monday, the 24th of August, 2020.

 

-          For summer semester registration, the student must be financially discharged from all his dues on the date of her/his registration.  

 

The student must check his electronic account, find out his balance and pay her\his financial dues at one of the accredited bank branches, accompanied by his/her recent university Identification card for the academic year 2019-2020.

 

Second: Summer Semester 2019-2020:

 

Online registration for the summer semester starts on Wednesday the 19th  of August, 2020 and lasts till  Saturday the 22nd  of August, 2020. The student is held personally responsible for his scientific, financial and administrative registration. Registration by others is accepted only under a valid legal agency or with a special authorization by the student approved by the Dean of the faculty. The registration period is divided – depending on the students ’academic levels that appear in each student’s academic file by the end of the second semester examination results - in accordance with the following table:

Rules for registration in the summer semester:

 

Credit hours:

 

1-      The student’s academic load is related to the GPA. The academic advisor must direct the student in choosing his/her courses in order to protect the student from the risk of dismissal due to academic warnings.

2-      Courses, with frequent failure rates and for graduation purposes, are opened for students in the summer semester of the academic year 2019-2020 in order for students to raise their GPAs and professors to cover their teaching hours.

3-      The academic load and the faculties’ registration priorities are determined according to the GPA, as follows:

4-      If the average in the previous semester is not less than 80% or 3 points, the student can register for the summer semester for 3 additional hours to the maximum limit.

5-      If the student was first registered at the university in the year 2012-2013 and onwards, he/she may register up to 12 credit hours for purposes of graduation. If the student was registered for the first time at the university between the years 2009-2012, he /she may register up to 15 hours.

6-      The remedial study - according to Resolution No. / 21 / for the year 2015 - that includes:

In the remedial study phase, the student is allowed, regardless of his GPA, to register between (2) to (6) hours exclusively. The student is obliged to register for the opened failing courses. If the student does not reach the upper limit, he/she completes his/her registration by enrolling in the conditional pass courses (exclusively).  No further registration on any new course is allowed.

7-      Students, who had been abroad and unable to return – due to the precautionary measures to help prevent the spread of the epidemic (COVID-19) – and consequently missed attendance and examinations for the 2nd semester, can register in the summer semester for 9 hours and a maximum of 3 additional hours if the average in the previous semester is not less than 80% or 3 points. This is approved only if provided with a copy of the student’s passport and visas.

·         Summer system students:

1) The student is allowed to register for a maximum of six courses, including four new courses at most.

2) The student has the right to fix the grades of failed courses that he wishes to register.

 

Attendance in all faculties starts on Saturday the 22nd  of August, 2020.

 

·         Free addition and deletion days: start from Sunday the 23rd  of August, 2020 and end on Wednesday the 26th of August,2020 (via Academic Advising, College Student Affairs and Learnata online student account), provided that the number of registered hours is not less than two. Any deleted course, within the limits of two hours, is considered as forced withdrawal, according to which the student obtains a grade of W in the withdrawn course and loses its entire fee.

students pay the remaining balance of the university fees after confirming their registration in the faculty till the end of the official working hours on Thursday the 3rd of September, 2020.

 

Delay fines:

-          Summer semester unpaid fees fine:

 

(0.5%) of the remaining balance of the due fees. The maturity starts on the 5th of September, 2020.

The collected Fines of the remaining balance are placed in a special fund called (the student fund) which is administered by the university council in matters pertaining to students.

Late fees fine (15,0000 SYP):

In effect starting from the 23rd of August, 2020 for all students who are late to register for the summer semester 2019-2020.

 

Third: Cases of Dismissal from Specialization and Dismissal from University:

-          This case is clarified by the academic advisors after reviewing the detailed academic status of the student.

-          Students who are dismissed from the specialization must submit an official request in order to either enter the remedial study or change the major, within a period not exceeding the date of Thursday the 21st  of August, 2020 after contacting the Director of Admission and Registration.

Fourth: Regulations for compulsive withdrawal from one or more courses and the academic suspension:

·         Submission of compulsory withdrawal requests for one or more courses begins on Thursday (starting on Saturday the 29th  of August,2020).The student obtains a W grade, the course’s effect on the semester and cumulative average of the student’s academic record is canceled, and the student loses the entire course fee.

·         In case the student wishes to withdraw all his registered courses, he shall submit a request to suspend the study. Hence the student loses the entire semester fees.

·         Last deadline for submitting requests for compulsive withdrawal or suspension is at the end of the official working hours on Wednesday the 30th of September,2020 (before the date of the final exam). No application will be accepted after this date without a compelling excuse accepted by the university presidency after proposing approval from the dean of the faculty.
